Outdoor-lighted Decorations – Specialty and Lawn Art
As we mentioned in another post, when it comes to outdoor-lighted decorations for your Christmas holiday display, there is an abundance of product to choose from depending upon your particular tastes. We have looked at traditional and LED lighting. In this post, we will look at specialty lighting. In addition, we will provide some information related to lawn art as outdoor-lighted decorations.
Specialty Lighting
- Net lighting is not a series of string lights connected together. Net lighting is a specially constructed series of lights formed to create a net or mesh like cover. This mesh design makes covering shrubs, bushes or trees with a colorful holiday display of lights much easier. Net lighting comes either with incandescent style bulbs or with LED’s to give you a wider decorating choice.
- Other specialty lighting styles include teardrop shaped lights, strawberry shaped lights, and globe shaped lights. All come in a wide variety of colors, with LED lights bringing the greatest versatility.
Outdoor-lighted decorations – lawn art
When the Christmas season rolls in, our lawns and rooftops become a veritable artist’s palette. With new technology in lighting and sound and better weather proofing, only our imagination and budget limit to what extent we can bring life to our outdoor-lighting decorations.
We have all seen the lighted animated deer grazing in many lawns. These deer come to life by molding wire into the animal shape, adding a servo type electric motor or two, and adding lights. This type of lawn art comes already wired with decorative lights.
Inflatable decorations take on all shapes and forms. It is nothing unusual to find Santa Claus riding an inflated motorcycle. There are inflated globes complete with falling snow. Many of these inflatables come complete with their own blower for quick inflation. Some will come with animation.
One of my favorite forms of lawn art is the lighted lawn decoration. These decorations can take on a static look or an animated appearance.
- Static
- While simple in nature, the static look can present quite a special look to your outdoor-lighted decorations. A star outlined in white twinkling mini-lights against the dark sky can evoke many emotions. A lighted nativity set bathed in floodlights or highlighted with rope lights can be quite impressive.
- Animated
- If you love action, animated lawn art is just the thing for you. The Mr. Christmas’ Lights and Sounds of Christmas controller allows you to synchronize up to 7,200 mini-lights with 20 holiday songs.
- If you are the adventurous type, you may want to look at this animated flight school as a possible addition to your outdoor-lighted decorations. Like any good businessperson, Santa has to train those responsible for delivery of product. This whimsical look will surely bring smiles to the neighborhood crowd.
- If you are looking for something a little more traditional, you can always try the waving Santa waving Santa .

The Christmas holiday season is a fantastic time of celebration. It is a time of the year when outdoor-lighted decorations really shine. Static lights from single color or multi-colored lights draw attention to highlighted areas. Animated lighted lawn art brings your front lawn brings your front lawn to life in an interesting way. Inflatable decorations, often with lights, make an impressive addition. What matters most is that you tell your Christmas story in the way that best suits your taste.
